This outdoors learning task requires students to find and collect natural flora – grasses, flowers, leaves, branches, petals, and stones. Once collected, students use the items to complete:

a)    An observational task

b)    A variety of writing tasks

c)    A presentation task

TASKS: There are two levels for students to choose from.

Level one is picture based. Students look at the pictures and read the words below the pictures. They are then to find what they see in the outdoors. All pictures are of natural flora – grasses, flowers, leaves, branches, stones.

Level two requires students to use their phonemic awareness to work out the sounds of words on each card. There are no pictures. Students are to find the pieces of nature in the outdoors. All words on the cards are of natural flora – grasses, flowers, leaves branches, stones.
